  1. According to the Dell Technologies Digital Transformation Index, India is the most digitally mature country in the world.
    • 91% of the business leaders believe that digital transformation should be more widespread as compared to 78% globally.
    • Dell Technologies in collaboration with Intel and Vanson Bourne, surveyed 4,600 business leaders from mid- to large-sized companies across the globe to score their organizations’ transformation efforts.

  1. As per Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria, India’s goal of ending TB by 2025 will be a tough task.
    • Global Fund was created in 2002, to end the epidemics of AIDS, TB and malaria, the three biggest infectious diseases in the world by 2030.

 

  1. The Centre has exempted industries like steel, cement and metal from mandatory prior environment clearance for setting up a new or expanding the existing..
    • The exemption has been given to Thermal Power Plants using Waste Heat Recovery Boilers without any auxiliary fuel.
    • The exemption has been provided to promote energy conservation and reduce green-house gas emissions.

    • The government expects that 25% of road vehicles will be electric by 2030.
  1. India with immediate effect has boosted the Customs Duty on all the goods imported from Pakistan to 200% followed by the day after India repealed Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status from Pakistan.
    • This 200% tariff rate is higher than average bound rate of 113.5% for agriculture products and 34.6% for non-agriculture products.
  1. A mega exercise, EXERCISE VAYU SHAKTI-2019 involving 140 fighter jets and attack helicopters, in a firepower demonstration was held close to the border with Pakistan at Pokhran in Rajasthan.
    • Vayu Shakti and Gagan Shakti are two important exercises held by Indian Airforce.
    • For the first time, the Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) and the Akash were deployed in a military exercise.
  1. The Uttarakhand Govt announced the interest free loans of up to Rs 1 Lakh to poor and small farmers.

  1. Indiamoneyinsurance.com, a subsidiary of the Indiamoney.com Group has acquired a broking license from Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) of India’s to enter Insurance Business.
  1. The loans by Public Sector Banks (PSBs) amounting to Rs 7,277.31crore under Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) had turned into Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) by the end of March 2018.
    • Loans under PMMY can be covered under Credit Guarantee Fund for Micro Units (CGFMU).
    • CGFMU was formed to guarantee payment against default in micro loans up to Rs 10 lakh extended to eligible borrowers by the Member Lending Institutions.
  1. Avendus Capital Public Markets Alternate Strategies, the alternative asset management arm of Avendus Capital recently launched a $1 bn Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) fund.
    • It’s one of India’s first funds to incorporate an ESG strategy for portfolio construction.
    • ESG Fund invest in companies that integrate the welfare of their employees and the local communities into their business model, while also accounting for environmental sustainability.
    • ESG investing is also known as socially responsible investing and sustainable investing.
  1. The Reserve Bank of India announced that it would transfer ₹28,000 crore to the Centre as interim surplus for the half-year ended December 2018.
    • This will take the Centre’s total receipts from the RBI as surplus transfer in 2018-19 to ₹68,000 crore.
    • The RBI follows July-June accounting year.
    • It will help the Centre’s ability to meet the revised fiscal deficit target of 3.4% for this fiscal.

    • CBDT is the policy making body of the Income Tax Department.
    • He replaced Sushil Chandra as he has been named as the new Election Commissioner.
