  • It will be implemented for the period 2018-2020.

  • Cybercrime Reporting Portal was also launched to facilitate online reporting of cases of Child Pornography, Child Sexual Abuse Material or sexually explicit content such as Rape/Gang Rape.


  1. Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) released a UGC Guide named “Deeksharambh” to acquaint new students with university programs etc.

3.Ministry of Power and New & Renewable Energy has reviewed the Draft ‘Distribution Perspective Plan’ for the power sector in India.

  • This, first-ever draft, has been prepared by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA).
  • Aim:- To provide 24X7 uninterrupted power to all consumers.
  • Smart Meters to all consumers will be provided and existing meters will be converted to smart meters.
  • The plan expects to increase the Distribution substation capacity by 38%, distribution transformation capacity by 32% and different types of feeder lengths by 27-38% till 2022.


  1. Ministry of Labour and Employment announced that Rs. 4370.60 crore has been paid to 1,18,05,003 beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Protsahan Yojana (PMRPY) during 2016 to 2019.

  1. Tamil Nadu will create two new districts Tenkasi and Chengalpattu by bifurcating Tirunelveli and Kancheepuram districts respectively.
  • After this, the total number of districts in the state will be increased to 35.
  • Reason: – To smoothen administrative functions.


  1. INS Sagardhwani (a Marine Acoustic Research Ship) flagged off for the 2nd Sagar Maitri, a two-month long mission, from Southern Naval Command in Kochi, Kerala.
  • It will visit Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia to initiate joint research programmes with selected institutes of these countries.
  • Aim: – To establish long-term collaboration in the field of ‘Ocean Research and Development’ with countries in the Indian Ocean.
  • First Sagar Maitri mission was held in April 2019 when INS Sagardhwani visited Myanmar.

  1. Sri Lanka and Indian Railway Construction Company International Ltd (IRCON), signed agreement worth $91.26 million to upgrade rail track in Sri Lanka.
  • IRCON operates under Ministry of Railways.`
  • India has, so far, given $1.3 billion worth of Line of Credit to Sri Lanka for development of its railway sector.


  1. Maharashtra raised the financial aid to families of Martyred or disabled soldiers from Rs 25 lakhs to Rs 1 crore.

  1. Haryana and Bombay stock exchange (BSE) have signed an agreement to help MSMEs to raise capital in the state.
  • SMEs can raise funds through “BSE SME” platform, where small companies can list themselves and raise capital.


  1. Gujarat has topped the list in terms of credit growth potential for MSME Corporate Lending in India, according to the Pulse Report released by TransUnion Credit Information Bureau Ltd. (CIBIL) and SIDBI.

Gujarat has been at the top position since the past 4 years, followed by Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Karnataka and Delhi this year.

MSME corporate entities are borrowers with aggregate credit exposure of up to Rs 50 crore.

The market size of this category is Rs 17.6 lakh crore as of March 31, 2019.

In terms of market growth, Andhra Pradesh was ranked highest for FY19.

Total debt in India increased at a Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 13.3% to Rs 253 lakh crore during 2015 to 2019.

13.4% CAGR of lending was towards commercial entities and 10.6% to government.

NPAs declined to 16% as of March, 2019 from 17.2% in 2018.


  1. Government e-Marketplace (GeM) and Steel Authority of India (SAIL) have signed an agreement to establish Gem Organizational Transformation Team-Project Management Unit (GOTT-PMU).
  • SAIL is going to be the first PSU to establish GOTT-PMU.

  1. INS Tarkash reached Sweden to strengthen international cooperation.
  • It is the first visit of an Indian Naval Ship in Sweden after a gap of 15 years.


  1. Delhi govt. celebrated 15-day “Happiness Utsav” across all government (1,031) schools.
  • Besides, new e-challan system and e-payment gateway were launched for the use of Delhi Traffic Police which allows traffic violators to pay fine online from anywhere.
  • The system has been developed by National Informatics Centre.
  • Also, Delhi’s first virtual court has been developed at Tis Hazari Court.


  1. Telangana and World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution Network have signed an agreement for ‘Medicine from the Sky’ project.
  • Aim: – To use drones to supply emergency medical products such as blood, vaccines or organ etc.
  • It will run in partnership with the Telangana government and HealthNet Global Limited.


  1. India’s first space tech park will be opened in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
  • Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (a major space research centre of ISRO) will provide complete investment in this project.


  1. Chhattisgarh municipal corporation has launched India’s first garbage café at Ambikapur of Surguja district for ragpickers.
  • Here, ragpickers who collect 1 kg of plastic waste will get a full meal and those collecting 500g will be served breakfast.


  1. West Bengal is going to sign an MoU with British Council to improve the English speaking skills of Polytechnic College students.


  1. Australia and India have finalized a ‘new veterinary health protocol’ to regulate export of Australian breeder sheep to India.
  • Australian sheep will be a part of the sheep breeding program under India’s National Livestock Mission.
  • First Australian sheep is expected to arrive in Uttarakhand.
  • Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying initiated the ‘National Livestock Mission’ in 2014-15 to ensure sustainable development of the livestock sector.


  1. India and China will hold the 8th edition of their joint military exercise called Hand-in-Hand at Umroi, in Meghalaya.


  1. Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) launched a new UGC scheme called “Paramarsh”.

Under the scheme, institutes accredited by the National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC) will guide the low institutions to improve their quality standards.

In this way, they can get accreditation from NAAC.


  1. Central government approved a new Central Sector Scheme called ‘Implementation of Agriculture Export Policy’ and allocated fund of Rs 206.8 crore for its implementation.
  • The scheme aims to double farmers’ income by 2022, by increasing exports.
  • ‘Agriculture Export Policy, 2018’ aims to double farm exports to $60 billion by 2022, as compared to $30 billion in 2018.


  1. USA cancelled its deal to sell F-35 to Turkey.
  • F-35 is a 5th-generation, multirole combat aircraft, that can handle ground-attack and air-superiority missions.


  1. Asian Development Bank (ADB) has downgraded India’s GDP forecast for 2019-20 to 7% and 7.2% for 2020-21, in its report ‘Asian Development Outlook 2019′.
  • For South Asian region, GDP forecast is 6.6% in FY20 and 6.7% in FY21.
  • Earlier, forecast for India was 7.2% for 2019-20.


  1. India’s Current Account Deficit (CAD) has risen to $68 billion in 2018-19 from $49 billion in 2017-18, according to International Monetary Fund (IMF).
  • India’s Net International Investment Position has improved marginally with the deficit lowering to $431 billion in 2018-19 from $438 billion in 2017-18.
  • Overall international reserves were $411.9 billion as of March 2019 from $12.5 billion in March 2018.


  1. Bilateral trade between India and Bangladesh was $9.5 billion in 2017-18 (exports to India were $0.87 billion and imports from India were $8.6 billion).
  • It was mentioned by Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce President Sheikh Fazle Fahim during B2B trade summit held in Kolkata, West Bengal.


  1. Tata is India’s most valuable brand in 2019 (for the 2nd year) with brand value of $19.6 billion followed by LIC at 2nd position with $7.3 billion and Infosys at 3rd with $6.5 billion worth of brand value.

  • Parameters: – ‘royalty-based approach’ which estimates amount of future sales (attributable to the royalty rate of the brand).


  1. Ebix Inc (a US-based software firm) has acquired Yatra Online Inc., for $337.8 million in an all-stock transaction.
  • Yatra will become part of Ebix’s travel portfolio, EbixCash and thus, EbixCash will become India’s largest and most profitable travel services company.

  1. Andhra Bank launched the Artificial Intelligence-driven interactive assistant called “ABHi” to effectively resolve queries of customers.
