  1. A new committee under the chairmanship of additional secretary level officer of Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has been set up to deal with issues related to FDI in e-commerce.
  • Currently, 100% FDI under automatic route and 112 brands have obtained approval of government from 2006 till March 2018.


  1. India conducted its first-ever simulated space war exercise called “IndSpaceEx” was in New Delhi.
  • India had in March successfully tested an anti-satellite (A-Sat) missile.


  1. Uttar Pradesh has become the number one state in implementing the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Beema Yojana by giving insurance cover to 1.95 crores people as of March 2019.

To provide accidental insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh (at a premium of Rs 12) to people between 18 and 50 years of age.


  1. Airports Authority of India (AAI) Aireon (from USA) have signed an MoU for establishing space-based Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast data (ADS-B) services for the oceanic regions of the Indian flight information regions.
  • ADS-B will increase the surveillance of AAI in the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean.
  • AAI plans operate it on trial basis from January 2020.


  1. NITI Aayog and WhatsApp have partnered to promote women entrepreneurs under the Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP- launched in 2018 by NITI Aayog).
  • WhatsApp also launched a Coffee table book named “Gateway To A Billion Opportunities”.
  • WhatsApp and Women Transforming India Awards 2019 (organized by NITI Aayog in partnership with UN) will also partner to provide award of $100,000 to winners.


  1. According to “Moving Price Index 2019” released by Movinga (German relocation expert firm), Delhi is the world’s cheapest cities for relocation.
  • Delhi was ranked 85th in terms of individual relocation &  84th in family relocation.
  • The study was conducted among 85 cities, based on the day-to-day expenses.
  • San Francisco (USA) has topped the index as the world most expensive city to relocate to.


  1. Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has approved around 1,40,134 houses for construction under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban).


8. Western Railways inaugurated its first printing press heritage gallery named ‘Western Railway Mahalaxmi General Stores Depot’(GSD) at Mahalaxmi in Mumbai.

  • It possesses the printing and allied machines used in the Western Railway Printing Press since 1948.


9. Ministry of Road and Transport approved the National Permit Scheme for inter-state travel for bus operators.

  • Purpose: – To increase the state revenue by 3-4% by directly crediting the money to the states in a proportionate manner.


10. UGC declared 23 universities as “self-styled” and “unrecognized” and these contradict the UGC Act 1956.

  • Uttar Pradesh has eight (the highest number) unrecognized universities followed by Delhi.


11. IIM-Calcutta has signed two MoUs with Carleton University (Canada) and Montpellier Business School (France) to promote teaching, research, and cultural advancements.

  • IIM signed MoU to promote its “Student exchange program (STEP)” – an initiative to allow students to learn from international experiences.


12. Goa is planning to launch India’s first ever ‘Water Taxis’ to facilitate travelling in inland water ways.


13. 5th International Dharma-Dhamma conference is being held in Rajgir, Bihar.

  • It acts as a platform for Hindu and Buddhist thinkers to express their views.


14. According to NSSO’s Situation Assessment Survey of Agricultural Households for 2013, average monthly income per agricultural household from all sources is 6,426.


  1. INS Tarkash reached Petersburg, Russia to participate in the Russian Navy Day parade.
  • Tarkash was built by Russia for Indian Navy.


16. Ministry of Mines organized an interactive workshop ‘Waste to Wealth’ in Delhi to discuss productive utilisation of Red Mud (a residue of bauxite).

  • Global inventory of red mud is over 3 billion tons.
  • India produces approximately 9 million tons of red mud every year.


17. A high-level committee, to be headed by Kiren Rijiju (Minister of Sports), has been formed to strategize the preparation for 2020 Tokyo Olympics and 2024 Paris Olympics.

  • Aim: – To ensure that the performance of the Indian athletes are optimised in the Olympics and other multidisciplinary events.


  1. 32nd edition of International Congress of Psychology, 2020 will be held in Prague, Czech Republic.
  • Lt. Col. Dr. Samir Rawat has become the 1st officer to be invited for this conference.


  1. China’s 2nd experimental space station module “Tiangong-2” successfully entered Earth’s atmosphere and burned up above the South Pacific Ocean.
  • Tiangong-2 was launched in 2016.

  1. Iran has test-fired a Medium-Range Ballistic Missile named ‘Shahab-3’ inside its borders.


  1. RBI has given the license of operating as an NBFC to CARS24 (an online marketplace for dealing in used cars).
  • CARS24 will enter into consumer lending business.


  1. Apple signed an agreement with Intel to acquire the majority of Intel’s smartphone modem business for $1 billion.


  1. BJP politician B.S. Yediyurappa has sworn in as the 19th Chief Minister of Karnataka.

  • She will receive the award in September.
