  1. At an altitude of 15,256 feet, Tashigang, a small village in Himachal Pradesh, is now the highest polling station in the world.
    • As per the revised electoral rolls, the two villages have 48 voters out of which 30 are men and 18 women.

  1. Hyper-local connectivity app titled ‘Bhonga’ has been launched in Mumbai to connect people within the same locality whenever they need without worrying about whether they know each other or not.
    • Bhonga” is a Marathi word which means loudspeaker.
    • This app automatically provides the lists the user living within the radius of one kilometre.

 

  1. A new initiative has been launched in Assam for Persons with Disabilities called as ‘Enajori’.
    • Launched with an aim that ‘No Voter to be Left behind’.
    • It is to facilitate the PwD voters for barrier-free and inclusive accessible elections.

 

  1. An international study on childhood poverty, quoting data from the National Family Health Survey (NFHS), found out that Tripura occupies the second position in India in terms of child marriages among girls between 15-19 years of age.
    • The percentage stands at 21.6 per cent which is significantly higher than the National Average of 11.9 per cent.
    • As per NFHS 4, West Bengal topped the child marriages list.

 

  1. As per the report by Oxfam India, Women get nearly one third less (approx. 34%) wages than men.
    • The survey was based on the Employment-Unemployment Survey (EUS) 2011-12 done by the National Sample Survey Organization (NSSO), International Labour Organization studies, and also based on the first inequality report launched by Oxfam in 2018.

  1. Google has constituted an Eight-member Advanced Technology External Advisory Council.
    • It will examine the ethical challenges related to artificial intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies.

 

  1. World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has released its report titled “The State of the Global Climate in 2018” , warning that the physical and socio-economic impacts of climate change are accelerating day by day.
    • It says that Earth is nearly 1 degree Celsius warmer than when the industrial age started (1850-1900).
    • The planet may see temperatures increase 3-5 C by the end of the century.
    • It is the 25th annual record of the Global climate.

 

  1. Tesla has developed its ‘largest power storage system in Asia’ at Osaka train station in Japan to reduce energy demand and provide emergency backup power to trains in Japan.

 

  1. Shanghai’s Hongkou claimed to have the World’s first district with 5G coverage and a broadband gigabit network.
    • 5G is the next generation of cellular technology which will have download speed 10-100 times faster than the 4G LTE networks.

  1. The government has finalised the decision to infuse Rs 5,042 crore into public sector lender Bank of Baroda (BoB) ahead of its amalgamation of Dena Bank and Vijaya Bank with itself.
    • Branches of Vijaya Bank and Dena Bank will function as Bank of Baroda outlets from April 1.

  1. Based on market capitalization, Power Finance Corporation(PFC) has become the India’s second largest Govt-owned Financial Firm after State Bank of India (SBI).
    • This happened after PFC acquired majority stake in Rural Electrification Corporation (REC).

    • TIFF launched the 5-year campaign in 2017 with a view to increase participation, skills and opportunities for women behind and in front of the camera.

    • Awarded for his magnificent achievements in the field of science, education and medicine.

  1. The FIFA (The Federation Internationale de Football Association) World Cup 2022 security agreement was signed between Qatar and France.
    • It is aimed at building a strategic partnership for the preparation of the world cup and management of the security of event.

 

  1. South Korea won the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2019 for the third time by defeating India.
    • It is an annual international men’s field hockey tournament.
    • It was held in Malaysia.
