IBPS PO Recruitment 2018: Important Dates

Eligibility Criteria for IBPS PO examination
Candidates need to fulfill eligibility at the following levels in order to apply for IBPS PO exam: 

  • Age-based eligibility (Min age – 20 years. Max Age – 30 years, as per 01.08.2017) 
  • Educational Qualification – A Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognised by the Govt. Of India or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government. The candidate must possess valid Mark-sheet / Degree Certificate that he/ she is a graduate on the day he / she registers and indicate the percentage of marks obtained in Graduation while registering online.

Exam Pattern & Syllabus of IBPS PO 2018
Understanding the syllabus of the exam is an important part of its preparation. Last year, IBPS changed the exam pattern of Mains exam. Mains Exam now contains a Descriptive test and a General Awareness section in addition to the other three subjects. Descriptive Test Pattern of IBPS PO 2018
The  descriptive test for IPBS PO mains includes two sections, worth 25 marks to be attempted under 30 minutes 

1. Letter Writing: You may have to write the formal, semi-formal or informal letter on general topics, current affairs & banking awareness. 

2. Essay Writing: Essay writing can be a long article on any random topic, especially related to current affairs/issues, or the issues that are popular at the moment.

Admit Card of IBPS PO
IBPS PO 2018 admit card will be released by IBPS for the candidates who’ve successfully applied for the exam of IBPS Probationary Officers. It is usually released 15 days before the examination.

IBPS PO Job Profile
After selection as Probationary Officer, candidates are placed in Junior Management Grade Scale – I. They have to work in a probation period of an year wherein they undergo various types of training in order to learn practical aspects of banking. Salary and Perks IBPS PO

Promotion and Career Growth in IBPS PO
After the end of probationary period, candidates are posted as Assistant Managers in the bank branch. Next step of the promotion places them in Middle Management Grade Scale and one can even rise to the level of Chairman and Managing Director.

IBPS PO Prelims Exam is scheduled in October 2018 as per the official calendar released by IBPS. Preparing for Descriptive Test will eventually help you score better in the mains exam.

Result of IBPS PO examination
The result for IBPS PO is usually declared within 10-12 days. Last year the result for IPBS PO prelims phase was declared on 1st Nov and for mains on 28th December. 

 Designation Probationary Officers holds in banks 
An IBPS PO holds the designation of an Assistant Manager (AM) on Probation. He/She is in Junior Management Grade – I (JMG-ScaIe 1) Officer, thus, he is often called as Scale 1 Officer or Asst. Manager.

Initial Posting of Probationary Officer (PO) 
  • Once you become a Probationary Officer, you have to go through Induction training program in Management Training Academies of the bank for around10 to 20 days. The duration of training varies from bank to bank. After completion of the training, a PO can be posted anywhere in India, as the service of Government Bank Officer is an All India based service.  
  • You can be posted as an Asst. Manager on probation in Head Office or Corporate Office or Zonal Office or other different branches.   

Duration of Probation Period
  • The average probation period for an IBPS PO is 2 years in which the Officer is exposed to different types of banking related tasks. In some banks, however, the duration may be to one year.   
  • As a PO, you may undergo frequent transfers or deputations during the probation period. Once the probation period is completed, you are confirmed as an assistant manager and will be given a permanent posting after a proper Police Verification report from their Local SSP Office or police station.   
  • Some banks nowadays, place officers directly as Deputy Managers as well, just after confirmation, if they are able to pass the test conducted by the bank.
