Just to brief you, UGC NET Selection Criteria consists of two examinations, i.e., Paper 1 and 2. UGC NET Selection Process is one of the toughest Selection processes since a very low percentage of total candidates clear the UGC ENT JRF Selection Examination.
UGC NET JRF Selection Procedure stages
UGC NET Selection Criteria is based on 2 major aspects. Those are given below:
- Paper – I
- Paper – II
UGC NET JRF- Paper – I
There are different levels for the NET JRF Selection Procedure. Paper 1 of NET JRF exam is an objective Written Examination. It is a one-hour examination, having 50 Questions. The Paper 1 exam of UGC NET will be held in the month of June. For each right answer, a student gets +2 mark and for each incorrect answer, no negative score is given. So all the students are recommended to attempt all the questions. The score obtained in Paper – I examination is considered in the final score as well. An applicant should secure maximum marks in Paper I to lighten the burden. You can select the date of examination in the given time period. Both papers take place on the same day. The design of question paper 1 is as follows:

The Qualifying marks for Paper 1 General Category are 40 and the qualifying marks for Paper 1 Reserved Category is 35.
UGC NET JRF- Paper II
Paper II exam is the Second stage under the UGC NET JRF Selection Procedure. UGC NET JRF will be held on the same date as of Paper I.Paper I and Paper II will be held on the same day in a span of three hours. Paper II exam holds an important role in the UGC NET JRF Selection Procedure. The Overall Selection is based on the marks obtained by a candidate in both the exams, so it is very important for a student to score equally good marks in both the exams as just cracking the cut off will not help you to achieve a certificate of UGC NET JRF.
This stage depends on the subject you want to get your certification in. It contains 100 questions. The syllabus of Paper II is the complete syllabus of Graduation & Post Graduation of that particular subject. For each right answer, a student gets +2 mark and for each incorrect answer, no negative score is given. So all the students are recommended to attempt all the questions. The score obtained in Paper – II examination is considered in the final score as well.
Total Exam Duration: 180 minutes.
Note: Paper I and Paper II will be set in both language English and Hindi. A candidate who is giving the exam has to secure minimum marks independently in each paper and total also.
Some Important Points to ponder:
1) Each Candidate has to qualify in each of the tests as per the marks prescribed by the NTA (National Testing Agency).
2) Never forget to attempt all the questions as there is no negative marking.
3) Candidate will be selected on the basis of the marks obtained in Paper I exam & Paper II Exam.
4) So, it is very important for a student to not secure the cut off marks but also score enough marks to make it to the merit list.
